Everything you need to know about the outdoor protocol, how the data report is delivered, and how to show up ready for a session in the UAE.

The outdoor protocol

On a closed, car-free 1 km smooth stretch of road in Al Qudra(Dubai).  We confirm the exact location and meeting point 48 hours before your session.  For other locations (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Fujairah, other countries) please contact hello@draglab.ae.

We use ultra-precise cycling aerodynamic sensors derived from F1. CdA is calculated in real time from speed, power, wind yaw, air density and rolling resistance — back-and-forth runs and meticulous measurements minimize bias to ±0.005 m². We also operate an independent weather station to log environmental conditions and a high speed camera to document your riding position.

Plan for 2 hours on site for DragLab Essential and 3 hours for DragLab Performance. That includes setup, baseline runs, up to 5 / 10 aerodynamic configurations tests, and a on-the-spot debrief so you know what worked before you ride home.

The best conditions are usually in early morning (typically just after sunrise). Wind is lowest, air density is most stable — all critical for clean CdA numbers. Outside of the summer months we also test at dawn. Daylight tests can be organized during winter.

If conditions exceed our quality thresholds (sustained wind, gusts, or rain), we reschedule at no cost. You only pay for validated data.

Step 1: Warm up for 20 minutes Step 2: Install and test sensors on your bike Step 3: Baseline runs Step 4: Test of different aerodynamic configurations Step 5: Test of field derived optimized configuration Step 6: Debrief Step 7: Remove equipment from bike

Data report delivery

You leave with the headline numbers the same day. The full PDF report — side-by-side CdA, watts saved, time saved at your race speed, plus image analysis from the session — is delivered by email within 48 hours.

Every configuration tested with its CdA, the delta vs. baseline, watts saved at your target race speed, projected time savings over 40 km / 90 km / 180 km, and annotated side-view photos of each position so you can replicate them.

Yes. On request we share the raw run-by-run CSV so you (or your coach) can dig into the numbers.

Only if the data supports it. The goal is free watts first — most riders find 8–20 watts in their existing position before spending a dirham on new gear.

How to prepare for your session

The bike you race on — TT, Tri, or road. Bring it set up exactly as you'd race it (race wheels, hydration mounts, etc...). If you want to test equipment or position changes, please bring the equipment you want to test and the spare parts needed.

Your race-day kit: race suit or skinsuit, race helmet (and any alternates you want to test), race shoes, socks, calf guards, sunglasses. If you want to test different helmets, suits, or wheels, bring the options — we'll test them back-to-back

Yes. A calibrated power meter on your bike is required. If you don't have one, let us know in advance — we can loan one

You should be comfortable holding your race pace for repeated 2–3 minute efforts with short recoveries.

Treat it like a quality training session: hydrated, fed, well rested. Bring bottles, gels, and your usual pre-ride nutrition. Mornings in the UAE warm up quickly — extra fluids are smart. Your total system weight needs to remain stable during the session so we will adjust the filling of your bottles accordingly.

Check your tyre pressure, clean your drivetrain, charge your head unit and power meter, and pack everything the night before.
